So, if you need a recap: Catherine was seen with William, visiting members of the Emergency Services at Southport Community Centre on Oct 10. For the occasion, she donned a repeat: a custom chocolate-brown Alexander McQueen coat, and a burgundy polka dot dress from the brand Whistles. However, did you notice the jewelry?

Now, there were two interesting pieces: her eternity band and gold fern earrings. We’ve seen the eternity band a few times now, mostly in rare videos she and William took while she was going through chemotherapy. The ring has replaced Princess Diana’s sapphire engagement ring, which Catherine normally wore all the time.

Per OK Magazine, many have seen this new ring as a sign that she’s in “the next phase of her life.” We haven’t seen many close-ups, but she’s stacked it with other rings of importance, and per People, it’s believed that the stones in it represent her and William’s children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

“Many of these eternity bands reflect family relationships. Given that her children’s birthstones are rubies, emeralds and diamonds, it wouldn’t surprise me if the gems set in the new ring are linked to George, Charlotte and Louis,” said Lauren Kiehna of The Court Jeweller.

The earrings are also a rewear, and have significant meaning behind it. They’re the Catherine Zoraida Gold Fern Drop Earrings, and per the brand via Page Six, the fern is “a symbol of endurance, resilience and new beginnings.” Not only does this work perfectly for the outing they went on, but it also works for Catherine’s new beginnings, post-chemotherapy.
