Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid made an appearance on the latest episode of Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives this week, taking the American chef to one of his favorite sandwich shops in the city.
Reid, who guided the Chiefs to a second straight Super Bowl last season, invited Fieri over to Pigwich – a gourmet sandwich shop located inside a popular Kansas City butcher shop – for an instalment on his Food Network show.
And the 66-year-old certainly rates it highly, saying at the start of the episode: ‘We’re going to a butchers shop that’s also the greatest sandwich shop you’ve ever eaten at. The real deal.
Reid and Fieri – a restaurateur, author and Emmy-winning presenter as well as a chef – then went into the kitchen to watch Alex Pope, chef and owner at Pigwich, knock up two huge burgers, which both men got stuck into.
The Chiefs legend hunched over before taking a mammoth bite out of his first burger, with Fieri saying: ‘Oh he owns this!’
He was also joined at the restaurant on the day by three Kansas City staffers, who also tasted some of Pigwich’s finest meats on the show.
Reid tucked away some burgers on the Food Network amid plans for star duo Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce to name one after him at their new steakhouse in Kansas City.
Earlier this month Kelce and Mahomes announced they are combining once again to launch ‘1587 Prime’ – a modern American steakhouse coming soon in the city.
