The speculation about their marriage intensified after Michelle’s absence from events like former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral and Donald Trump’s inauguration. She clarified that during Carter’s funeral, she was on an extended vacation in Hawaii, and regarding Trump’s inauguration, she simply didn’t feel compelled to attend for appearances’ sake.
