Lately, the New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has come under media scrutiny on an intense level. Whether it’s his feud with Jimmy Kimmel or his involvement in Sandy Hook’s conspiracy theories, all these have built an infamous narrative of the quarterback.
Rodgers, whose name has become synonymous with ‘controversy’ has overshadowed his achievements as a football player by his off-field activities. That’s why, it seemed essential for the former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver to jump in the defense of the Jets’ quarterback and remind everyone why he is known as a ‘star’ QB.
During a recent appearance on the Zach Gelb Show, Rodgers’ former teammate, Marquez Valdes-Scantling enlightened the audience on the true character of the quarterback in contrast to the negative narrative that the media has built. He dismissed the infamous narrative of Rodgers being a self-absorbed diva, arguing how selfless and dedicated he has seen the former Packers quarterback for his peers.
Man! He’s one of the greatest teammates you’ll ever find. He cares more about his teammates than the game of football. You know, I think that’s something that people don’t really understand because they get this perception of him that he’s, you know, there’s this whatever diva or that he’s all about himself. That’s the furthest thing from the truth.
The Super Bowl champion highlighted how much he had learned from Rodgers when he entered the league as the Packers were his first team. He also shared that the 40-year-old is a big advocate for mental health, and how one should approach life and football.
