Princess Kate Opens Up About “Really, Really Difficult” Cancer Recovery: “It’s a Rollercoaster”

The royal, who is now in remission from cancer, spoke openly about her experience during a hospital garden visit
Princess Catherine is in remission from cancer, but that does not mean she does not feel the effects of having suffered from the disease.
Today, the Princess of Wales visited the RHS’s Wellbeing Garden at Colchester Hospital in Colchester, England, and while there, she spoke about her cancer recovery and the challenges she continues to face even after having finished her treatment.
You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult,” Kate said while seated in a well-being garden designed as a restorative space for patients, staff, and visitors.
The princess looked lovely in a striped beige linen blazer paired with a matching striped shirt, brown pants, and white sneakers.
You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to,” the princess said. “And actually, someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable.”
