Donna Kelce’s Reaction to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s Engagement Will Warm Your Heart
Donna Kelce had the sweetest way of subtly celebrating her son Travis Kelce and fiancé Taylor Swift after the couple announced their engagement Aug. 26.
Donna Kelce is in this moment now, capturing it and remembering it.
Travis Kelce’s mom doesn’t know how it gets better than her baby getting married to Taylor Swift, and she subtly celebrated the occasion after the couple announced their engagement Aug. 26.
Indeed, Donna changed her Facebook banner Aug. 27 to a fused photo of Taylor, 35, and Travis’ elementary school days, with Taylor’s photo seeing her leaned up against a prop tree and Travis, also 35, posing in a flannel against a blue studio background.
Of course, the 72-year-old—also mom to son Jason Kelce, 37, with ex Ed Kelce—had slightly let the cat out of the bag prior to her son and “The Life of a Showgirl” singer announcing the milestone themselves, gushing that Travis was “so happy” just days before.
“I think his mind is settled,” Donna told People in an article published Aug. 25. “That’s about all I can tell you. I think he feels calm and he feels like he’s on a mission and he knows exactly what he wants.”
By that point, though, Travis’ dad Ed revealed that the Kansas City Chiefs player had already popped the question. As he told ABC Cleveland Aug. 26, “Travis actually did the proposal maybe two weeks—not quite two weeks ago.”
And while the NFL star initially had plans to save the big moment for just before the football season kicked off Sept. 5, he had encouragement from his family—as well as Taylor’s dad Scott Swift—to do it as soon as possible.
“Scott said, ‘Come on, when are you going to get this done?’” Ed explained during an appearance on The Jimmy and Nath Show Aug. 26. “He was going to make a big production out of it. You know, wanted to make it uber special. And I told him the same thing Scott told him, asking her is what’s going to make it special. Not where you do it.”
After Travis knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring both his and Taylor’s family couldn’t contain their joy. As Ed put it, “The family—both sides—kind of assumed this was going to happen because we’d never seen our kids so happy.”
