The 35-year-old announced his intention to play at least one more year at the Arrowhead Stadium until his contract expires on March 5, but admitted retirement was on his mind.
A tough season culminated in a tough night on February 9 in Super Bowl LIX, when he was limited to just four catches for 39 years by Nick Sirianni’s Philadelphia Eagles defense in a 40-22 loss.
And to be fair to him, the three-time Super Bowl champion made it very clear how he feels about the loss as he admits he fell below standards and is keen to redeem himself in the eyes of the KC fans and locker room.
“I still feel like I can play at a high level and possibly at a higher level than I did last year,” Kelce told the New Heights podcast. I don’t think it was my best outing.
“I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them. I have a bad taste in my mouth in how I ended the year and how well I was playing and how accountable I was for the people around me.
